This depiction of a <i>Tyrannosaurus re</i>x was sent in by Lizzie Smith. Although <i>T. rex</i> actually ate fig rolls in reality, I admire the attention to detail in this illustration. Note the strapping biceps. I like to suppose this <i>T. rex </i>is really in the process of setting up a trap to catch that true chocolate digestive lover, <i>Titanosaurus</i>. </div>

M. Clabby. The packet is from the Isle of Wight, the UK's dinosaur hot spot. These gargantuan choc-chip biscuits are stegosaur-shaped and so huge that only two fit in each large yellow packet. The nature of both the biscuits and the place of discovery point to one individual genus being the consumer: the ankylosaurian <i>Polacanthus</i>. <i>Polacanthus </i>is one of the only armoured dinosaurs known in the area. This has profound evolutionary implications because the later armoured dinosaurs such as <i>Euoplocephalus</i> ate choc-chip cookies, similar to these biscuits in many respects, but of more derived simple round variety.<br />

The packet, now in possession of the author, arrived from an unknown source. A word of warning, this could be a fake, it may not be a genuine prehistoric artefact.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FUyA_-_pINY/UJvi53vBWkI/AAAAAAAACbw/1iq4VdLu7n4/s1600/dinocookies.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FUyA_-_pINY/UJvi53vBWkI/AAAAAAAACbw/1iq4VdLu7n4/s1600/dinocookies.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The product provides enthusiasts with the opportunity to indulge in a little prehistoric cookery themselves (and very enjoyable it is, too). This packet differs from all others in featuring a Cretaceous dinosaur.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OUQRrfVJgRI/UJviLH1NBoI/AAAAAAAACbo/Bup2Kp_BeqQ/s320/tinstructions.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="253" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small; text-align: start;">Tyrannosaurus sniffs the fumes of freshly cooked biscuits. </span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F1nvzJG22J4/UJviKgfS9DI/AAAAAAAACbc/wWiD2elW980/s1600/instructions.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F1nvzJG22J4/UJviKgfS9DI/AAAAAAAACbc/wWiD2elW980/s320/instructions.jpg" width="279" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small; text-align: start;">Dinosaurs are often accused of being dim-witted or stupid. However, note the neat apron and dashing oven gloves, which contradict the notion of foolish dinosaurs</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
If genuine, this is final proof that dinosaurs evolved the essential baking skills necessary to feed themselves, and provides palaeontologists with vital clues regarding dinosaur behaviour and ecology.<br />

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IjgYHzR_OD8/UJvkJXjUZJI/AAAAAAAACb8/2AyqFwgVgNA/s1600/timtams.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IjgYHzR_OD8/UJvkJXjUZJI/AAAAAAAACb8/2AyqFwgVgNA/s1600/timtams.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The similarity between the TimTam and the famous bourbon biscuit is immediately apparent, the only difference is the chocolate coating on the Australian TimTam. British readers will also note the incredible similarity between TimTams and Penguins, both brands are individually packaged chocolate-covered bourbons. A new family of biscuits has been proposed: the Chocreamidae.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kF7qhYZl4ig/UJvMAxpkvpI/AAAAAAAACYg/3ZNyZZ_8MGE/s1600/mutt.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kF7qhYZl4ig/UJvMAxpkvpI/AAAAAAAACYg/3ZNyZZ_8MGE/s1600/mutt.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This has profound implications for the theory of co-evolution between dinosaurs and biscuits. It is common knowledge that <i>Iguanodon</i> ate bourbons, and now we know the closely related <i>Muttaburrasurus</i> ate the bourbon-like TimTam. Surely this is more than a coincidence? Another puzzle causing much bafflement is the parrot on the TimTam Packaging. Is there a link here to the penguins? Iguanodontids must have fed on Penguin biscuits and work is currently under way in North Africa, where palaeontologists are searching for conclusive evidence to support the hypothesis that <i>Ouranosaurus</i>, a sail-backed iguanodontid, found Penguin biscuits irresistible. One expert commented "biscuits are really tasty, especially these chocolate ones".Plesiosauria (Adam Smith)http://www.blogger.com/profile/04692310033866042532noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4696993237462066459.post-1847542372129529412006-08-30T09:04:00.002-07:002022-06-13T16:20:21.731-07:00JurassicookiesAn unbelievable relic from the past has been unearthed recently, a packet of 'Dinosaurus Biscuits'. These dinosaur-shaped biscuits have been dated to the Jurassic Period based on the species engraved into the wrapping. The package is encoded with what looks like childish scribble in a bygone language, possibly dinosaur language. The debate now rages: which genus of dinosaur ate these biscuits? Nobody knows for sure. The discovery raises more questions than it provides answers.
